Red Wine Barrel Bung

Sometimes the outside of the bung hole gets stained with red wine because the wine maker is constantly taking samples. A number of wineries will paint this section of the barrel to make it look more presentable. Taken at Vineland Estates Winery.

Close and seal the barrel. Make sure your sulfur stick is safely suspended inside the barrel and will not burn the wood before closing the barrel. If you are concerned about fire damage, use a sulfur burner with a bung to safely distribute the smoke.
