A Good Investment

We were at the Andrew Peller Shareholders' meeting yesterday. The CEO reported that two years ago the company purchased the vineyards at Thirty Bench for $14,000 an acre. He said that neighbouring vineyards on the Beamsville Bench are asking $100,000 an acre. Talk about a good investment!

Vineyard Sunset

While returning from Hillebrand Winery today we noticed the sun setting over the vineyards. Fortunately, I had my Nikon in the back seat. We rushed to find a vantage point to capture this photo. Notice the wind machine and the fake birds to scare away the real birds that feast on the ripening grapes this time of year.

Bird Almost on a Wire.

This gull was photographed on the lake front in Port Rowan. Unfortunately, the ugly wire is in the picture. I guess I could have used Photoshop.

Rose Before the Vines

Malivoire Winery has roses in front of the rows of grapevines. Some grapegrowers say that the roses may predict a potential problem in the vineyard. Others just say they look nice and have no real benefit.

A Cool One (or Two)!

After we walked around Port Dalhousie for 2 1/2 hours we felt like a cold beer. I had 2 Coronas with lime!

I've finished photographing the first releases of the Calamus wines with the new label and put together this collage. Calamus Winery will have a grand re-opening later this month.
