Sparkling Wine Event

I was asked to take photos at the inaugural event of the Ontario Wine Society - Oakville Chapter. 9 sparkling wines were tasted and only one a true Champagne. The others were from Niagara.

Pond Sludge

I had a very unusual request recently. A wine club member who owns a farm asked me to take photos of her pond which is full of sludge and algae. She feels this is caused by an adjoining property who using chemicals, etc. in his pond. She wants photos to show to the relevant government agency.

We had to drop off an Ontario Wine Society Industry Member certificate seal on Saturday. I had my camera with me and took this photo.

Another new winery has opened in Niagara. Five Rows Craft Wine is located in St. David's.

Ontario Wine Society Award

Vineland Estate Winery won Gold at the Ontario Wine Awards recently. The award for their Cabernet Merlot was sponsored by the Ontario Wine Society - Toronto Chapter.

Surprise Move!

We were driving along Regional Road 81 today and noticed this sign saying that Lakeview Cellars is closing and moving to the 20 Bees location in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Danny Lenko's Corvette

Mark Picone Culinary Studio

We were fortunate enough to be invited to an open house at Chef Mark Picone's Culinary Studio. Mark presents part cooking school and part dining experience for small, private groups. This is a composite photo of the sign on the front of the house and some tulips in the garden.

Stoney Ridge Estate Winery

Stoney Ridge has new owners. This weekend they held an open house where we could go around the barrel room and see the bottling area, etc. Wine and cheese was served at each station.

We were having lunch with one of our Wine Club members on her farm. The peacock on the farm decided to show off in front of a peahen who had no interest at all in his advances.
