A few protest signs are springing up in Niagara. Under Greenbelt legislation land in certain areas can only be used for agriculture. However, the Ontario government has not supported the farmers. It allowed the only canning factory east of BC to close, it did not support the grape growers when the Welch's grape juice company closed. Now, it's not giving any assistance to wine grape growers who are having a hard time finding a market for their grapes.
