Spaceship Earth

I was going through some old photographs the other day and found this photo taken at Epcot Centre in Florida many years ago. The print was possibly from a 35mm slide (taken with a Nikon film camera) and scanned.

Happy Birthday, Marmalade

Our oldest cat, Marmalade, turned 18 on July 27. Marmalade appeared on Sobey's cat food label for many years. The original label said "Our Best". This was later changed to "Our Compliments". Unfortunately, the label was replaced a few years ago with another cat. Marmalde was paid $250 for her modelling debut.

Jeremiah Was A Bullfrog......

While on a walk through the Glenridge Quarry Naturalization Site with my fellow photo blogger, "Photoshopphlake" and my wife, Sue, I photographed this frog who didn't mind posing for the camera. Even with a 200mm lens, I still had to zoom in on the frog in PhotoShop Elements.

Sawmill on Konkle Road

One of my favourite buildings is on Konkle Road in Beamsville. The sun was just going down but the photo wasn't that interesting so it needed a little tweaking in PhotoShop Elements. I'm told by a viewer that this is an old sawmill.

Bubble Maker

This toy bubble maker was taken at my great niece's 4th Birthday party. I'm sure the 4-year olds can tell me who the figure is. I think it's the Little Mermaid?

Splish, Splash

I was the "official photographer" at my great niece's 4th Birthday party. This photo is of her brother, Matthew, who couldn't wait for the wading pool to be filled with water. He just had to check out the temperature, I guess!

Gloriosa Daisies

After I removed a lot of hard clay soil in our backyard in Beamsville and replacing it with decent topsoil, the flowers are starting to grow. This photo was taken at dusk last night.

Photography Workshop

Angel's Gate Winery held a photography workshop yesterday. After a brief discussion of photographic techniques by AJ from Angel's Gate the group went out into the area around the winery to take pictures. A few of us were fortunate enough to capture this Tiger Swallowtail butterfly as it landed on a flower. Unfortunatly, the butterfly had a chunk missing from its wing. It didn't seem to hamper its flying ability though.

My great niece, Bethany, turned 4 on July 4th; however, she didn't have a birthday party until Friday, July 13th. The cake was delicious!

Long Island Wine Label Art

I liked the photo of the wine label art so much that I found another one that Sue took on her Kodak camera. This label is on the Pindar Peacock Chardonnay.

Wine Label Art

While uploading some of my Long Island photos to "flikr", I found this picture of artwork used for a wine label at Pindar Winery. The painting can be seen on their Sunflower Chardonnay.

Each Tuesday in Summer there's a classic car show at the Gateway Niagara in Grimsby. This engine was so clean you could eat your dinner off of it!

More Crystal Beach Nostalgia

Although the amusement park at Crystal Beach is only a fond memory, a car from the Giant Coaster has been kept and preserved and was on display at a Crystal Beach Days Festival a few years ago.
