Just as I was shooting this flower a bee appeared. This is the time I wish I had a macro lens. Photographed near Balls Falls. Click on photo for enlargement.
Last weekend was Doors Open Niagara. You could visit a number of interesting and historic sites in various parts of Niagara (and New York State) for no admission charge. We visited the new conservation building at Balls Falls and wandered through the historic village where I captured this shot of a window in one of the buildings.
There were at least 3 weddings going on at Balls Falls yesterday. The sun was shining on the front of the church but I couldn't get a photograph because one of the wedding parties was standing in front. I took this photo looking directly into the sun but used the building to block it out.
One of the bed and breakfast places we stayed in during our trip to Virginia had chickens in the backyard to provide fresh eggs for their guests. Being a city boy I don't know if this is a hen or a rooster but I think a rooster has a much larger comb.
These two deer were at the side of the road on the Skyline Drive in Virginia. I just had enough time to grab my camera for this shot. There was another deer that I photographed but it moved so quickly the picture was blurred. We were also lucky enough to see a black bear cross the road but too quick to be captured with my camera. Pity.
