One year ago today we were staying just outside of Wanaka, New Zealand. The previous evening I photographed the sunset over Lake Wanaka and wanted to get an early morning shot. I tried to wait for the clouds to lift to show the mountains better but, unfortunately, we had to get back on the road.
Rippon is said to be one of the world's most beautiful settings for a winery and probably the most photographed. It's on Lake Wanaka on the South Island of New Zealand. Photographs of the Rippon Vineyards have been found on other wineries' labels!
The "4-D" Theatre is just by the Skylon Tower in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
These men are in a cage being hung from a crane just by the Horseshoe Falls. They seemed to be cleaning up debris from the bank. Only one man had a rake in his hand but there were four men in the cage - one seemed to be a supervisor. On the other side of the railing were at least four other men and one crane operator. While I'm sure this is a very dangerous job, does it really take nine men to do a bit of raking! Our Canadian tax dollars at work!
This is just a child's game but I loved the bright colours! Photographed at my great nephew's birthday party.
This photo is from a 30-year old slide taken just outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. The original colour photo was changed to sepia using PhotoShop Elements 5.
I hope these gulls aren't planning to make a nest on this light pole! Taken at the Welland Canal, Lock One.
My great nephew, Matthew, turned ONE on April 21st. This photo was taken at his first birthday party!
The gulls, by Lock One of the Welland Canal, seemed to be selecting mates. I guess these two found each other! Spring is in the air.
Southern Ontario has had a few nice Spring Days. Will it last? We can only hope!
This photo, taken yesterday, is a good indication that Spring is finally here.
I just found out that this photo of a view from Mount Te Mata, New Zealand is 1 of 25 final photographs chosen in the 2007 Henry's Photo Contest. This was taken with a Nikon D70 without any retouching. All finalists' photos will be displayed at the Photographic & Digital Imaging Show held in Mississauga, Ontario in May.

Winemaking is not all about sitting around the fireplace drinking the final product. This photo shows the winemaker emptying out a Pinot Noir vat - a really messy job but someone has to do it! The photo was taken at Ata Rangi Winery in Martinborough, North Island, New Zealand
For some reason it just seemed appropriate the show a picture of a black cat this Friday the 13th! This photo was taken in Grimsby Beach.

It's been almost a year since the Wine & Culinary Center opened in Canandaigua, New York. The center is a 19,500 square foot gateway to New York's agriculture, food and wine. Although we're great supporters of the Ontario wine industry, we work at wine shows in Ontario pouring some of the great NY State wines! And, we actually get paid for doing something we love.
A lot of people (at least two) have asked to see more of my grape photos. This photo was taken on top of the Escarpment in Beamsville a few years ago. I couldn't get anyone to identify the grapes - not even some winemakers I know. It's quite possible they're table grapes.
It was exactly one year ago today that we left for our New Zealand adventure. This photo was taken from the ferry that goes from Auckland to Waiheke Island.
April Fools'!!!! Actually a photo of a giant sculpture of a Pukeko bird taken in Te Anau, South Island, New Zealand.
